September Week 2

September 12-18

Emily is our tiny dancer. :)

She loves to dress up as a ballerina and twirl around the room.
Lately we have been turning on the classical music station for her and letting her put on a dance recital for us.
Her mommy 'dance lessons' are limited to pliés, relevés, chassés, sautés, pirouettes, arabesques and the like, so I guess it's time to look into real dance classes. :)

This weekend Pete went to Minnesota for marching band stuff, and Amy & Ella were kind enough fly out and visit us for the weekend! We had a great time showing them around, but my camera battery died so I'll need to get photos from Amy!

We played dress up at home, went to Disneyland, Seal Beach, ate at Chick-Fil-A, CPK & Golden Spoon, and crammed as much 'Southern California' stuff into a few days as we could!

One of the most memorable moments was at the beach when Emily had a swim suit full of sand (from rolling around in the waves) and decided to just whip it off while running down the beach and made her preggo momma chase after her and tackle her with a towel to stop the streaking episode! Another family nearby laughed and after I returned to our stuff to dress my child said, "Well, she's got sand in her pants! Can you blame her?" ...Guess not... :)

September Week 1

September 5th-11th
2010

Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back so we took a family trip to Starbucks and then went for an evening drive along the PCH with the windows down and the cool ocean breeze blowing through the car.
(from L to R: Em's kids Hot Chocolate, Sarah's tall Chai Latte non-fat and Pete's grande Pumpkin Spice Latte.) yummy!
Emily received some hand-me-down 'treasures' from the DeYoungs this week.
Her new goody bag was full of princess items including this camera, which she LOVES.
"Say Cheese! You're as pretty as a princess!"

Grandpa & Grandma, aka "Hampa & Hamma Sasha" came for the weekend!
It was great to see them, plus they brought yummy Brueggers' Bagels and other fun gifts :)
We went for a walk on Saturday morning all dressed in our IOWA gear... I'm sure we were quite the sight in our Long Beach neighborhood! Go Hawks!

The aftermath of many castles and towers built (...& destroyed).
Also, Hampa built her a 'camera' (the pink, white & blue square on the right) that she loved.
Bedtime snuggles on Sunday night.

Grandma read to Emily....
...and it put Grandpa to sleep! :)

Thanks for visiting us!

August Week 5

August Week 5

August 29 - September 4

It's Time to go Back to School!!!
This was my first week back. I had inservice meetings Monday-Thursday.
A woman spoke to us about Millennials (as in the generation that spans 8 year olds to myself) on the first day, and the second day was mostly spent on what she wrote about in a book of hers entitled, "How Am I Smart?" It was basically Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, but she was an interesting speaker, so it was a nice way to get back to school.
Saturday was the first Iowa Hawkeye game and our little girl loved dressing up in her Hawkeye outfit from Uncle Paul & Aunt Laura!

We're doing our best to raise a Hawkeye fan in USC territory. :)

In other news (since we shared our exciting news) I have not been feeling well and I'm a little anxious about going back to work full time. I'm 11 weeks along now so hopefully as the first trimester wraps up I'll start feeling better. I am so thankful though to have a little one on the way, that there's really not much to complain about. :)

August Week 4

August Week 4
August 22-28

We cherish our Monday nights when Pete is home.

Tonight we made a (huge) fire in our fire pit.

This is the last week of the show and I can hardly wait to have Peter home more!!!
Pete, Nathan & Breezy climbing a tree in Balboa Park before dinner and Pete's show, "Robin & The 7 Hoods". Lenee and I stayed put on the ground to take pictures. :)
It was a lot of fun to see the show one more time. :)

Okay...
so, this is an old photo...
and I usually don't include pictures of things that have been peed on... ;)

However, we decided it was time for an announcement! :)
As of this week (the last week of August) we are 10 weeks pregnant,
and excitedly anticipating a new baby in our family in mid-March!
This is our first ultrasound from earlier this month.
We were very happy and relieved to see that so far our baby is healthy and growing :)
(This ultrasound was done at 6 weeks, but you can already see a little beating heart!)
We love you baby! :)

August Week 3

August 15-21

I'm REALLY far behind with Project Life photos and journaling.

Unfortunately I don't play my cello much anymore...
I play at school, at church, and that's about it.
Actual practicing only takes place once in a blue moon,
so my cello rarely sees the light of day.
I did however teach a few cello lessons every other Wednesday this summer,
and Emily loved watching the kids and myself play and she wanted to join in the fun.
Staying cool in the pool with her Daddy.
Emily is a daredevil. She is always trying to find a new trick to master.
This is her backwards, headfirst jump down the slide.

Daddy stuck with a more traditional approach ;)
{These two are the loves of my life!}

August Week 1

First Week of August

Baby Julia and her Mama at Isaac's First Birthday Party
Birthday Boy, his parents, and cousins
Emily up in a tree after church
Family time at Gpa & Gma's hotel pool

That evening Joe and Emily came over for a couple hours to play while their parents ran an errand.

Saturday morning I took Emily to get a manicure & pedicure.
(She will be a flower girl in her uncle's wedding tomorrow.)
After her mani/pedi we went out for Starbucks.
It was a fun morning of spoiling my little girl. :)
