Our Life: Fourth Week of April

April 24th-April 30th

Noah turned 6 weeks old this week.
Hard to believe that lots of moms have to go back to work when their baby is only this old.
I'm very thankful to have a few more weeks--two for sure, possibly a few more if I take paid family leave... I need to decide soon!

Here's a glimpse into our lives this week:
Sunday, April 24th. Happy Easter!

There in the ground His body lay, light of the world by darkness slain.

Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the ground he rose again.

And as He stands in Victory, sin's curse has lost its grip on me.

For I am His, and He is mine. Bought by the precious blood of Christ.

Pete played for a church in Fullerton today. Michael came to church with us since Jill was working too. It was tough getting the kids up and out this morning with Pete gone and all of the additional Easter excitement and then Michael had car trouble, so by the time we got to church, the sanctuary was packed so we went to the cry room for the service. I realized this year that Pete will probably never be home on Easter morning so any family traditions will have to take place without him. A sort of sad realization that we can't go to church together, but this year he was able to come home around 1pm and we had a nice Easter lunch and Easter egg hunt when he was back.

Monday April 25

Today is Grandma Sasha’s birthday. Happy birthday, Mom!!

I had my final appointment with the surgeon (who we like to call Dr. Snuffleupagous because we have a hard time remembering and pronouncing his last name!) While it wasn't fun to have back to back surgeries, I'm relieved to have the whole ordeal over and to have received a good report from the doctor today.

Tonight I took Emily to her first dance class. It's a beginning ballet and tap class and I'm really excited for her. :) She was adorable in her ballet clothes and so excited.

Tuesday, April 26

Em went to daycare at Kathy’s this morning while I went to her preschool orientation! I can hardly believe she's old enough to go to SCHOOL! The school requested a headshot of her so that the teachers can familiarize themselves with the kids names before school starts, but I forgot until this morning so we took a few pictures quickly. (In the end, I found one from about a month ago that worked instead since this is the face she makes when I tell her to smile.) :)

After orientation Pete and I went out for a lunch date at a Mexican restaurant down on 2nd street.

Wednesday April 27

Pete had a brass trio rehearsal from 10-2, and when he came home we packed the car and drove to San Diego. We checked into the hotel and then went straight to the pool to play. It was a fun, random little trip--our first family vacation as a family of four.

Thursday, April 28.

This morning we hit the pool before checking out of our hotel. Then we packed the kids back in the car and went to the San Diego Zoo! Noah slept almost the ENTIRE time we were there, but we had a lot of fun with Emily. (Except when we suggested we go see the crocodiles and she sort of freaked out, afraid that they were going to eat her!) After our great day at the zoo, we drove back home. It was a perfect, quick, little family getaway.

The baby giraffe in the middle was born the same week as Noah!

Their baby (top left corner) is quite a bit bigger than our baby!

It was a fun day and Em was so exhausted by the time we left that she passed out before Pete could even get the stroller into the trunk of the car!

Friday, April 29

We are dorks. :) Last night after we put the kids to bed we set up camp in the living room and slept in front of the TV. We set the alarm (as if we aren't sleep deprived enough!) and watched the Royal Wedding (yawn!) while taking care of Noah and sipping on the tea that we bought last spring at Buckingham Palace. I don't really care much about the wedding and all, but it was fun to watch and to reminisce our trip last April. (For today's photo I think I'll download a photo of the wedding from online.)

Saturday, April 30

Noah's first babysitter! Tonight Uncle Michael & Aunt Jill came to baby sit Em & Noah and we went bowling for our friend Michael’s 30th birthday. (I took pictures on Pete's iTouch and still need to email them to myself.)

Our Life: April Week 3

April 17th-April 23rd

My mother-in-law was here this past week and was a big help with the kids.
Thanks, Cindy!
While she was here, and since I had doctors orders for limited activity, I spent some time working on Noah's baby quilt, and almost finished it... there's just a bit more of the hand stitching of the binding to complete!
Noah reached his 1 month birthday on Sunday!
Here he is at exactly one month old! :)

...and here he is in his '1 month' onesie, the next day.
My sweet family :)
My boys

We have been having beautiful weather, so when our next door neighbor was going to get rid of this basketball hoop, I quickly snatched it up for Em.

Uncle Mike and Aunt Jill came over one night this week.
(Though now with my sleep deprivation I can't remember which day! It's currently 4:28am though and I'm up with Noah, so I have a good excuse!)
We spent a lot of time talking to Emily about Easter and Holy Week, trying to impress upon her what it's about... NOT the Easter Bunny.
