May 23

Saturday morning in the park with my whole family.  I can't think of a much better way to spend it!  Emily is a lucky girl to have such a wonderful extended family, lucky just like her mama.  :)

May 22

We Covingtons indoctrinate them young... :)

"Take me out to the ballgame,  (thanks Grandpa!)
Take me out with the crowd.   (we met some really nice people sitting behind us as well as Gpa's friend)
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks, (no thanks, I'll stick to raisins and goldfish)
I don't care if we ever get back!  (as long as I'm with all of you!)
Let me root, root, root for the DODGERS! (although Dad thinks they're only the 2nd best team...)
If they don't win it's a shame! (I guess tonight's game falls into the 'shame' category)
For it's 1...2...3 strikes, you're out (yup... lots of those)
At the old...ball...game!!" (these funny people sure do like this song!)

thursday, may 21...

those are boxers around my daughter's neck...
her uncle's old hole-y (& clean) boxers actually...
and yes, she is wearing them like a toga...
i don't know what to say except that things get a little crazy when the covingtons come to visit...   :)

May 20

WHAT IS THIS?!???
Does anyone know?  It grew really fast and it's completely taking over the planter under the kitchen window... I wouldn't mind if I knew for sure that it wasn't poisonous... but I have NO idea!  Please help!  :)

May 19

aww... my elementary kiddos :)

May 18

Back to work after a wonderful weekend.  Fortunately for me, I love my job!  :)

May 17

Sunday, May 17th.

This is our lifegroup.  What is a lifegroup?  Good question... :)  They're our Bible study group, but more than that, they're our friends, and they act as our family away from home.

Tonight we hung out at John and Kelley's in order to say goodbye to Jamie and Jenny who are leaving in a couple weeks to spend a year working in ministry in Haiti.  It was a good time of fellowship and a chance to hear from the Groens and pray for them before they leave.  (It was also the night that a 5.0 earthquake rumbled through.  Yikes!  Maybe we should go to Haiti too!)

We are excited to see what God will do through our dear friends, but we'll miss them terribly while they're gone!

Last photo posted of the huntington... time to get back to 'real life'.  :)

May 15

We stopped and sat down for awhile in the shade of some tall bamboo...this is my silly husband saying "A hh!  I've been bamboozled!"

...more photos at the Huntington Library.  The bridge is in the Japanese Gardens and the pink flowers were on the path up to the English Rose Gardens...

May 11

I took a personal day today, sent Em to Kathy's and spent a wonderfully relaxing day at the Huntington Library with Peter.  It was absolutely beautiful and made me ache for summer... it's so close!!

In honor of such a fantastic day (or because I left my camera in the car all week)  I'll post some of my pictures from today, for the rest of the week :)  enjoy!

May 10

I had a wonderful mother's day.  Pete (ahem, emily...) carried on the tradition of breakfast in bed and then had the whole day planned for me.  After church we went on an adventure up to the Children's Museum in Pasadena where they had special mother's day activities.  We had a great time, but I think it'll be even better when Em's another year older and can really do all the different things.  The 3 pictures for today are at the museum.  I wish I'd have thought to take a better picture of us... oh well :)

Happy Birthday Uncle Mike!!!!!!!

May 8

I'm so sad that these are the only 2 photos I took tonight.  :(  I hosted the Annual VCS Music Faculty Dinner at our house and we had a lot of fun.
I borrowed some tables and chairs, we grilled chicken and had some pasta and fruit salads, fresh green beans and more with ice cream sundaes for dessert.  The kids played, the adults talked, and Nathan and Lenee stayed for some late night "Rock Band" in the garage :) Despite the face she's making in the picture above, Em had a good time playing with Chloe, but she was definitely ready for bed after (most) everyone left.

May 7

Em really seems to enjoy her days at Kathy's, however, she's super tired by the time I come to bring her home.  Recently I've been getting these tearless cries of exhaustion... poor thing...

May 6

I love my Wednesdays this year.  The middle school has chapel after lunch on Wednesday which means a couple of great things for me:
1. An extra long lunch period so I can often run home and play outside with Emma,
2. I only teach one class in the afternoon, and
3. I get to go to chapel with the MS kiddos :)

May 5

the roses are starting to look beautiful, but there's no time to smell them today... progress reports are due tomorrow morning!

May 2

Saturday, May 2nd.

We went to our first Dodgers game of the season and saw an amazing game with Paul and Laura!  Again, since Laura had her camera I didn't bring mine... now I just have to find a way to get those photos from her :)  In the meantime, here's another photo from around the house.  (Not exciting, I know, but some days are like that, right?)  :)
