December Week 3

December Week 3
December 12th-18th, 2010

It's my favorite time of the year, and not just because it's my birthday week. :)

It's time for concerts and parties, and so much more.

Monday night we had a spontaneous and wonderful get together with Jamie, Jenny, and their kids, Lindy, Alex & James at our house. It was a blast watching the kids play and catching up with our good friends who we haven't seen much as they have been living and serving in Haiti for the past year.

Sweet baby James, just over 2 months old. :)

Tuesday was my birthday. My last twenty-something birthday.
Pete took me out to dinner and I had a really fantastic day, full of great surprises.
Wednesday and Thursday were busy with work.
My last Christmas concert (that I directed) was on Wednesday morning.
Pete worked a lot, we went to several concerts, and worked on getting the house cleaned for our party.

Friday was a 1/2 day of school for me.
Yipee for Christmas Break!!!

I had a hair appointment after school, needed to pick up Emily from daycare and then I had several last minute errands to run to get ready for the life group (Bible study) party, but the car wouldn't start AGAIN (it's doing this quite frequently now, but no one can give us a good answer as to how to fix it!) so LeneƩ was kind enough to help get me where I needed to go.

Eventually (several hours later) I got the car started (it's an unsolved mystery, and if you know much about cars and want to solve it that would be fantastic!) and Emily and I went home.

Party prep was pretty much done and before we knew it Pete was home and our friends were arriving. :)

We had a fun night of letting the kids play together
while the grown ups visited, ate, drank & swapped cookies :)
I was proud of Emily for sharing her toys as well as she did.
I snapped this photo of her reading by herself in her room.
When I asked her what she was doing she told me the babies were all playing with her toys and it's hard to share so she wanted to read 'by myself'... at this stage, having her isolate herself for a little bit is better than the alternative of fighting over toys!

We even managed a group photo of (most of) the kids.

Thanks for a fun night, friends! :)

Christmas is coming!

December Week 2

December 5th-11th, 2010

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas :)
This weekend I brought out my Gramma's sewing machine, to make several simple Christmas pillows and a table runner. It was fun to be sewing again after a several year break, even if the projects were simple.
Pete climbed on top of our roof to put up our Christmas lights.
They look beautiful :)
...and THIS is what he used for a ladder!
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
...but the roses are still blooming, and our weather is GORGEOUS,
65-75 degrees and sunny Monday-Saturday!

December Week 1

December Week One

November 28-December 4
2010

Emily helped us finish decorating the tree by hanging the candy canes.
Mommy helped a little.
Emily hung a lot of them near her ornament of Sasha.

The loves of my life. :)

We tried to take family photos...
Emily was fascinated with the camera's self timer ability, so she continually readjusted the camera for us... which meant this was the best one we could get today.
out of focus, but I don't care...
silly photos with mom after dad left for work
Em stuffed the candy canes into each stocking

Emily and her friend Jocelyn had a last minute play-date on Friday afternoon, complete with Princess dresses, pizza and ice cream!

November Week Four

November 21-27
2010

Happy Thanksgiving Break!

Monday:
The morning was spent at inservice.
The afternoon had back-to-back doctor appointments for myself and baby.

Tuesday morning brought more meetings, but we were done early to start break.

Em's turkey from "Turkey at the Tiersma's" last Saturday.
Wednesday was spent relaxing...
Wednesday night Emily helped me make an apple pie.

Thursday morning we got up and started our food prep for the day, and then went to church.
I love our church's Thanksgiving service.
After church, we celebrated Thanksgiving as a family of three and though we would have loved to be with our extended family, it was perfect.
...perfectly simple...
...and sweet.

After naptime (we all took naps... every day... all week... and it was WONDERFUL.)

Em played while we took out the Christmas decorations Thursday night.
Pete set up the tree and I took care of the rest.
Thursday night Emily went over to Uncle Mike and Aunt Jill's and had a great time.

Mom and Dad woke up at 3 for some black friday shopping.
It's always an adventure, but this year I'm not sure it was worth it! :/
The Starbucks afterwards was nice though!

Thanks Michael & Jill :)

November Week Three

November Week 3
November 14-20th

It's tech week for my middle school musical and it started well...
I thought I was handling the stress well...
...but I was tired...
...and not eating well...
...and not feeling well...

Wednesday, when I was supposed to be at our dress rehearsal, we had to call the ambulance, I ended up in the hospital, and we had quite the scare, but it ended up okay.

...Let's just say though... it was a long week.

I stayed home from school on Thursday and Friday, had several doctor appointments, but still directed the musical (Thursday and Friday) and it went well.

More importantly though, we found out that our baby is fine, and I'm going to be fine too.
The emergent ambulance part of Wednesday was a stress and vasovagal induced panic attack combined with gall stones, but we have had several follow up appointments and though I'm on an almost only chicken noodle soup diet, I'm feeling much better. :)

Anyway... the pictures are not all from this week... I was a bit busy to take photos... but they're within a week or so.

Someone landed behind bars ;)

Saturday at Disneyland with Mommy & Daddy

On Thursday and Friday I enjoyed a bunch of couch time and my favorite fall candles.
Roses from the cast of our musical.
