July: Week 4

July: Week 4
July 25-31, 2010

::bedtime snuggles with sasha::::Em has been wanting her own cello lessons recently::
::She's a very serious student:: :-)

This is at Balboa Park near The Old Globe Theater, where Pete is playing all summer.
I snapped this picture quickly while walking through on the way to a show with the Huismans.
On Friday Emily had a great time playing with her friend Drew!

July Week 3

July 18-24, 2010

We don't get much time with Pete these days--he's playing 8 shows a week in San Diego, plus working Disney days, plus writing about a hundred marching band shows... so we miss him quite a bit!
We make the most of the time we have with him and do our best to follow him around whenever possible ;)
This week I think we did a pretty good job of finding family time :)

My parents were here for a week to go to Jill's shower, prep for the rehearsal dinner and help me out at home while Pete stays in San Diego. Today they flew back to Iowa City.
Bye Grandpa and Grandma! See you again soon!

Emily and I practiced doing her hair and walking down the aisle for when she will be the flower girl in her uncle's wedding. (This photo is pre-hair-updo.)

We all spent a few days with Pete's friends in San Diego, the Pollocks.
(Em thought we told her we were going to stay with the 'Pirates' instead of Pollocks, and surprisingly, she was fine with that and just started singing: yo, ho, ho... yo, ho, ho!)
::at a park in the San Diego area with her new 'pirate' friend::
The mornings when Pete is home are priceless.
We often spend them at the park.
::Daddy's little girl::
:)
As Emily likes to point out when we're together: "Daddy, Mommy, Emmy"

July :: Week Two

2nd Week of July, 2010

I have my computer back!!!!!!
(as of august 11th)

Let's catch up! :)

Sunday, July 11th
Happy Anniversary to us :)
... except Pete had to work until almost midnight and Jill had her bridal shower up in Claremont so I took Em and drove from San Diego to Long Beach to Claremont for Jill's shower....
and then back to San Diego.

hmm... who gave the baby a wine glass??? ;)
Monday, July 12th
We celebrated 6 years at a couples spa with wonderful massages and then an afternoon out in beautiful San Clemente. :)
I love you, babe.

sooo.... THIS is the venue that I'm supposed to decorate for Michael's rehearsal dinner....
(wish me luck!)

(yes, those are beer ads glued to the wall... and you can't miss the giant moose head.)

(...but... a family from his school is letting him use it for free, so that's very generous... and it will be private... minus the giant jets flying over head... ;) and there's plenty of room for everyone, so we'll see.... time to think outside the box... fun times ahead.)

I don't know exactly what this look says...
but I'm in love with those eyes, cheeks and little curls...
and the right side of her smile that's just starting to form...
and so much more. :)

Pete's new show!!
Tonight was an "invited dress rehearsal"...
the first official preview night is tomorrow.
I had a hair appointment and then my mom and I made the drive down to see the new show:
"Robin and the 7 Hoods"
It was a lot of fun to see this new show and get an idea of what Pete's going to be doing for the rest of the summer!

July Week 1

1st Week of July, 2010
OK, next problem due to no computer: photos are in reverse order.
.sigh.
Friday or Saturday we went to the zoo.
This photo was at the end of the afternoon when Emily was getting a little tired.
Emily loved the elephants and all of the displays over at "Elephant Odyssey"

Someone had to figure out where we were. :)

::making big ears like the elephants::

Emily wasn't very impressed with the elephants at first...
"EWWWW!!! STINKY!!! Mommy, no, I want go!! STINKY!!!"
::playing with daddy at the zoo::

our little excavator ;)

Upon entering the zoo,
Emily walked in and was immediately mesmerized...
by...
the...
ducks.
yep, ducks.
we had to pry her away and insist that there would be other animals,
even more interesting than ducks.
I'll just say there were a few tears shed,
but she soon realized we were right and she cheered up again. :)
(p.s. I love that she's up on her tippy toes to get a better look!)
Welcome to the San Diego Zoo!

On Tuesday (or was it Wednesday?) we all went down to San Diego for Pete's first week of "Robin and the 7 Hoods".
Emily playing on our bed at the Residence Inn.

We unpacked some of her toys, books and blankets and she immediately found this cozy little nook to lay down and read.

The 4th of July...
before we went to watch fireworks we stopped at McD's for an ice cream cone
(it was the only place open!)

I love these two!
::feeling patriotic::
Dinner outside on a BEAUTIFUL evening.
At the end of Petapalooza, Emily and Peter had the bounce house to themselves :)
[I don't know who liked it more!!]

The 1st Annual Petapalooza 4th of July Block Party!!
This was a lot of fun...
our neighborhood closed off the street and had an old fashioned block party,
complete with a bbq, bike parade and dessert contest :)

::getting ready for church in the morning::

Happy 4th of July!
